Spring has arrived, and arrived with a bang! It's really warmed up in the past week and I can't complain!
Spring for Furry Twang means EVENT SEASON! I love doing events and getting to meet all of you and your furry friends.

I have a few on the calender, but am taking it a little easy this season due to the bambino on the way.

Charleston Themed Dog Tshirts

So, Sometimes all the stars align just right and my creative juices start to flow!
Today, was one of those days! I love days like today and thank goodness for notepads when you're away from the computer!!

Today I had several neat ideas for new phrases and themes, but I'm only going to share one with you right now.
--As you know, I'll be sitting out at the evening market this spring to catch the tourists and introduce them to Furry Twang. I was thinking that I need some really cute phrases to make the dog t-shirts more of a Charleston souveneir type thing.

Dog Collar FLAIR

With each new year comes a new idea right?

Last year it was the addition of collars, doodles, and new phrases, and this year, it's DOG COLLAR FLAIR ADD ONS!

I am super excited about these! They are truly unique and so doggone cute!

Dog Collar Flair add-ons are made using felt and foam cut-outs. They are applied to the collars using velcro and are easily removable or swapped out for new flair.

Take your dog to that birthday party, Valentine's day social, dog park, pet event, or just around the block in STYLE Y'ALL!

It's almost like shoes for a human. You have a pair of jeans you love like a dog has a collar they love. You can dress up those jeans and make them look different everytime you wear them with the shoes you choose to pair them with. It's sort of the same concept with these cute flair add-ons! You can add some pizzazz, some spunk, some personality to that everyday collar with each flair add-on you choose!!

Each piece of Flair is $3 each and can only be applied to one of our collars with the velcro feature.

Flair for small collars can be used on any sized collar, but the larger flair may be too large for the small collars.

Now to the boring stuff:

Velcro Flair Collar Add-ons make a cute statement, but should only be left on the collar when the pet is under supervision, as they can become a choking hazard if swallowed. Always remember to remove the 'flair' when your pet is left unattended.

As always, collars should only be used for their intended purpose and replaced as needed.

Well, here we are again, the end of another year! I don't know about you, but I can't believe how fast 2009 flew by!

2009 was such an amazing year for Furry Twang. I never thought I'd snag so many wholesale accounts, certainly didn't expect to get a magazine mention, and had no idea I'd have so much fun at events.

Furry Twang grew in many ways this year. It all started with an idea and dog! We've gone from printing on just dog t-shirts to now printing on collars, bandanas, totes, & tanks. The phrase list went from a handful to a slew of new ones! We've popped up on blogs, in magazines, and now I'm even doing $10 ribbon collars!

Well I sure am up early on this lovely Thanksgiving! Cooper is surrounded by his uncle Jake(yorkie), cousins Sonny(chihuahua) and Walsh(english bulldog), grandma and grandpa hunter, and aunt and uncle stacey! He woke me up at 5am, but I managed to keep him asleep until 6!
Anywho, during that 5-6am hour, I got this great idea to do something good today!

Today, I'll be donating 10% of all sales to the lowcountry food bank in Charleston, SC!! So many of us get to feast on so many delicious foods, but there are many who don't get that chance. The lowcountry food bank helps those unfortunate folks, who without them, may not have a Thanksgiving or any food at all! I thought today is the perfect day to help out such a great organization and feed the hungry!

Wow! Can you believe Furry Twang has been around for a year already!
It's amazing to me how fast it has all gone by. Sometimes I think I forget how much has been done and what I've actually accomplished with Furry Twang so I thought I'd do a little timeline to remember.

The Beginning!
August/September: The idea was born/researched/and ready to launch!
October 2008: Furry Twang Southern Dog T-shirts was launched! We started with the 'Tickled Pink' Dog T-shirt to raise awareness for Breast Cancer Month. Our only product to begin with was the Dog T-shirt.

March 2009: We must've gotten spring fever, b/c we did A LOT this month!!
-Attended our first event! Paws For A Cause right here in Charleston, SC. People fell in love with the t-shirts and had to have them!
-Shipped out our first wholesale order to Dogadillo in Austin, TX.
-Launched our Etsy shop
-Added the Love Your State Collection with phrases such as 'Texas Sized', 'Georgia Peach', and 'My Tide Rolls In Alabama'.

April 2009:
-Attended Bark To The Park in Columbia, SC. Tees were an even bigger hit!
-Expanded the line and added Dog Bandanas and Dog Park Totes

May 2009:
-Expanded even more and added Dog Collars.
-Attended Pet Palooza in Charlotte, NC. Had an awesome turnout and came home with a big pile of orders to fill.

June 2009:
Launched our Chicky Twang line on Etsy! Chicky Twang offers items such as baby one-pieces, greeting cards, key chains, toddler tanks, and now Ladies Organic T-shirts!

We teamed up with a local adoption center and spay/neuter clinic in Charleston, SC called Pet Helpers. Once a quarter, we'll be donating bandanas to them to give to their furry little guys when they get adopted.

Along the way we were featured in many different blogs, websites, and publications such as Dog Tipper & Barkability.
The biggest of all happened this very month! We managed to snag an awesome feature spot in the Buzz section of CHARLESTON MAGAZINE!! It's a great way to celebrate a 1 year anniversary! Check us out on page 52 of the October 2009 issue!

It's amazing to me that this tiny little idea in my head has become this big thing that has consumed my life for the past year. I can honestly say I've enjoyed every single minute of it and I can't wait to see where things go in year 2!! Possibilities are endless and there's NO LIMITS!! Stay Tuned!

Well it sure has been quite a while since I've updated. Don't worry, it's certainly NOT because I've been lazy. I've been super duper busy!

--CHARLESTON MAGAZINE! We're getting mentioned in the Buzz section of their October issue. We're STOKED! This will be great exposure in the Charleston area!

--We're partnering with Pet Helpers! Pet Helpers is a no kill animal shelter in Charleston, SC. They also have a spay and neuter clinic and have all sorts of furry pals up for adoption. Details are still in the works, but we had a meeting last week that went very well and I can't wait to get started working with them and supporting such a great organization!

You know by now that I pretty much always have SOMETHING up my sleeve, right? Well, now here's something new!!......

After 3 cups of coffee this morning, I had a great idea to start printing my doodles onto greeting cards.
I was telling my mom yesterday that I needed to go buy a bunch of blank cards to just have on hand for times when I want to send someone a card on a whim. I usually have great intentions to send cards to people but I usually don't follow through b/c I hate the hassle of going to cvs to pick one out and paying a fortune for just one card.

I was making my to-do list this morning and had already written, 'blank greeting cards' when the idea came to mind. I could make my OWN cards using my OWN doodles. I could post them on etsy and give everybody that convenience of having blank cards on hand!

I was so excited about the idea, that I made it happen this afternoon!

Can you believe it's already July?? I sure can't. It amazes me how fast time flies by! Maybe it's because I've been so hard at work!
There are so many things to share so I had to take a minute to update the ol' blog!
I've got several new doodles in the works and I'm ready to unveil another one!!

It goes perfectly with the 'doodle bug' phrase since it is a doodle bug and all but will also look wonderful with many of the other phrases including any of the baby wear! Hope you like it!!

My website is undergoing a pretty major update and I can't wait until it's finished. The cart will be majorly simplified, new doodles added, new phrases, updated photos, new tabs including an events tab, stores tab, and much much more. Check it out soon!

ok, so, as funny as it sounds, I've actually been told before that I look like my yorkie Cooper. Yes, it's really true. Pet Palooza Wrap Up

Pet Palooza came and went and we had a BLAST. The weather was perfect, just a tad hot, but I'm not complainin'.
I was so impressed with the turnout and loved seeing folks smile as they stopped by our booth.

Why Furry Twang Dog Collars?

--Furry Twang Dog Collars are different than your average collars. They're not just a pretty pattern. They're unique and fresh and can be printed with any of the Furry Twang southern phrases.
--Customization is also available for this product. Your pooch can wear anything around their neck. You name, we can print it!
--Each collar can be printed with your choice of any of our 10 color combos & any of our doodles!

How Are They Made?

--Phrases, doodles, and color combos are first hand printed onto 100% organic cotton ribbon. They are then sewn onto durable black nylon webbing. I use metal D-rings and plastic heavy duty snaps. Collars are double and event triple stitched in several places for extra durability. This collar will truly stand the test of time. See for yourself!

In addition to new doodles, our newest product has been added to etsy as well! I'm very excited to introduce and add dog collars and leashes to the Furry Twang line! How Exciting! Each collar will be hand sewn in Charleston, SC by none other than me!!:)
For now, there is only one listed on etsy (see below photo) BUT, you will soon and very soon be able to add your favorite southern phrase to a dog collar or leash. I'll post a photo soon of how these will look.
I made the decision to add dog collars to the growing product line for the simple fact that dog collars are almsot a necessity for almost every canine. Leashes are where a dogs identity is held & where their leashes are hooked. Let's face it, you need a dog collar, BUT not just any old collar. You need a dog collar with some pizazz or some TWANG!! Any of our charming southern phrases can be added to a dog collar or a leash and I'm certain your pet will look super duper cute in any of them.
Each collar I make will be adjustable and will come in several sizes and neck lengths. Leashes will be 6 feet. Longer leashes can be made upon request.

Pet Palooza

Bark to the Park and Paws for A Cause were such great events for us that we've decided to also attend PET PALOOZA at independence park in Charlotte NC.

The event is scheduled for May 30th from 9am-1pm. There is a canine walk until 10:30 and then the fun begins. I hope to see you all there!

We've been featured in another blog! I'm so excited. I was approached by a lady in the lovely land of twitter to feature me in her blog. She's pregnant and looked tirelessly for big sister/big brother tees for her doggies and just wasn't satisfied until she found my site! A little about Reese: 10 years ago he was rescued from the pound by her loving owners. He lives at home with them and keeps up with their 4 year old.

What drew us to him? His gorgeous smile and sweet eyes.

Runner Up...IZZY!

Congratulation Amber, Izzy has won runner up in our cutest pet photo contest and gets a free dog bandana. Izzy was a fighter from her start. Her mother was shot while still carrying Izzy and her siblings but survived and had all healthy babies including Izzy. Her owners got her from the shelter when she was old enough and are enjoying taking her on long walks and playing with her outside.

Bark to the Park last Saturday was a huge success. I had the best time meeting all of the cute furry animals..and their owners too:)
We sold lots of t-shirts and bandanas and folks went nuts over our phrases.

Happy Wednesday!

I am so excited about all of the new things going on at Furry Twang. There are several new things I am bursting to share with the Furry Twang fans.

1. Not only will we have totes this summer(maybe sooner), but also doggie bandannas!
Totes will most likely be our most customized product so we welcome anything you want to have printed on your tote. Tote photos will be added soon so keep checking the photos section of our website.

2. As if the new spring phrases weren't enough, there will be another slew of new phrases added in the next few weeks. Stay tuned for those.

3. Love Your State Collection! Don't you just love your state! You often see folks walking around with a t-shirt or sweatshirt that says something about the state they live in, or the state they wish they lived in. Well, now your pooch can too!! The love your state collection will boast phrases such as 'Texas Sized', 'Carolina on my mind', 'Carolina Girl', 'Georgia Peach', 'Tennessee River Rat', etc.
I hope it will be a huge hit and folks will flock to get one of their own.

4. Photos...I will be adding new photos to the Furry Twang samples album for folks to see what the tees look like on the dogs. While Cooper is a fantastic model, he can't do it all alone. He'd love to share the spotlight with your furry friends so if you've ordered a tee, don't be shy, send it on over to bark@furrytwang.com and your pooch will be a star...well, sort of.

5. Newsletter Central! Furry Twang has its very own bi-monthly newsletter that will be sent via email. Sign up on the website and you will always stay in the know.

6. We are so pleased to announce that some of our tees can now be found at Dogadillo in Austin, TX. It's a super cute boutique offering a vast variety of nifty pet things.
If you didn't know, our dog tees are available at wholesale to retailers all over the US. Jsut email me to get a copy of the list and available phrases.

Hello 2009! This is the year to shine!!!
I have high hopes for Furry Twang Southern Dog Tees this year and hope my ideas will come to life as planned.

What's New You Ask?

-SEVEN new phrases to start the year off right.
How cute will your furry friend look sporting "Prissy Pants", "Sweet Pea", and my personal favorite, "I'm not fat, I'm big boned"! :)

-In addition to those phrases, new holiday phrases have also been added. Valentines day is coming up and dressing your pet for the occasion is an absolute must:

FurryTwang Southern Dog Tees was just launched in October of 2008 and we are so thrilled about that!

2008 has proven to be GREAT in 08' for our pet sitting business A Tail Waggin' Good Time and we felt it only necessary to go ahead and launch the tees this year too. Why wait right?
